Additional Description: Now available at the St. Louis Car Museum is a wonderfully solid 1951 Ford F1 classic pickup truck with all the looks of an original that happens to be hiding a few performance improvements under the hood! This professionally built and upgraded Ford truck was fully restored by Mark Burdette with features that include Offenhauser aluminum heads and intake, Red's headers, dual exhaust, Holley carburetion, full 12-volt conversion, as well as an HEI ignition. Additionally, this ready drive Ford is now mated to a Ford C4 automatic transmission for ease of driving in all environments. A truly fantastic find for any enthusiasts looking to add a 50s classic to their collection! History of the 1951 Ford F1 Truck: Ford F-Series trucks came about in 1948, rebranding themselves with new chassis' specific to the pickup truck lineup. The F1, as seen here, would represent the ½-Ton chassis, F2 for ¾-Ton, leaving the F3 and up for heavy-duty applications. Throughout each available model both six and eight-cylinder engine options remained available, each packed with the highly faithful Flathead technology. This F-Series redesign also included updates to the truck bodies, with a one-piece windshield and headlights integrated just outside of the horizontal grillwork. By 1951, some further changes included a larger rear window for better visibility, headlights now positioned further out and into the fenders, and a modernized grill with a more aerodynamic appearance. The later models also gained a wood bed with an improved tailgate. Unfortunately, this beautiful design would only be produced until 1952 before becoming the F100 we know today, leaving the compact F1 continues to be highly regarded for truck collectors today! Details about this 1951 Ford F1 For Sale: We are proud to offer a stand-out 1951 Ford F1 pickup beautifully finished in Gloss Black over Red Vinyl bench seat interior. This classic Ford has been fully restored in body-off-chassis fashion by early the one and only Ford Flathead guru, Mark Burdette, specifically for his personal collection! Estimates of this restoration claims over $65,000 with records bringing it to completion some time in the early-2000's. Mark was mostly known for his keen interest in Ford Flatheads. This was due to his passion for both rebuilding them for excitement, as well as. teaching others the craft during his later years, easily maintaining his wonderful collection of restored classic cars and trucks that he continued to use and enjoy. This particular model would only become available after his passing in March 2014. Under the hood lies the original December 15th, 1950 date-coded 239ci Flathead V8 block, which is now fitted with Offenhauser finned aluminum 24-stud heads and aluminum intake! Further improvements include a Holley carburetor, Mallory Magnetic breakerless electronic ignition system, Taylor 8mm spark plug wires, factory style oil filtration system, Red's Performance headers, dual resonated exhaust system, Walker radiator with billet overflow tank, 4-blade cooling fan, and conversion to 12-volt negative ground alternator charging system! What makes this model truly unique is its conversion to a later generation Ford C4 automatic 3-speed transmission featuring a pushbutton floor-shifter by Lokar and upgraded Ford 9" rear axle fitted with 3.00:1 gearing! Additional equipment includes a factory AM radio, updated electric wipers, door armrests, dual sun visors, stainless steel window vents, added turn signals, rubber floor mat, "V8" fuel cap, beautiful oak wood bed with polished stainless steel slats and hardware, Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.00-16 wide whitewall tires, hubcaps & trim rings, chrome bumpers, chrome tailgate hinges, blue dot taillights, dual outside mirrors, argent grill and chrome headlights bezels! Upon its arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, our on-site maintenance staff rebuilt the front brakes with new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, new shoes, and turned drums. The engine oil has been changed with a fresh oil filter, along with new spark plugs, ignition coil, and fully rebuilt carburetor with fresh seals, gaskets, inline filters & hoses. This is a terrific driver that performs wonderfully on the open road! Starring out over the hood towards the custom swan ornament out in the wind, using the knicker-knob on the steering wheel to help maneuver your turns with greater ease offers a delightful 1950s feeling all over again! Especially due to the carefree element of an automatic transmission.
