Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-CLASS recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.

Additional Description: We Invite You To Compare! This is a rare 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300 SD Sedan. The rarity comes from the AMG package which was installed on it, typically on the petrol versions of this car, but this one happens to be a diesel. AMG at that time was not the same as it is today, they were sold as accessories rather than an actual AMG builder like the modern ones. This car came in on local trade from a woman whose elderly father owned it. He had a few Mercedes of this generation and had passed it down to her and her sister. It is originally from Illinois and looks to have about 3-4 owners total in its lifetime (pretty reasonable for a 35 year old car). She loved this car and took her young daughter on road trips back to Illinois in it several times. That immediately told us she trusted the car and the mechanical aspect of it. We had the vehicle inspected, it was recommended we replace the injector seals and the valve cover gasket, as well as do an alignment. We did all of those items. The car starts, runs, and drives amazing. It is quite remarkable how quickly it starts after the glow plugs warm up. It starts faster than many gas cars I have seen. The interior is in good overall condition for the age. It is a driver, so does have some minor normal wear on the seats as seen in the photos. The dash is great, as are the seats and carpet. The woodgrain has some minor cracking (it is plastic) to be expected with the age. It has and aftermarket stereo head unit and a custom box in the back that was build for it. Other than that it is all factory. The power locks are not operating, and we have not addressed that. They are vacuum operated so it could be any number of things. The exterior is in good condition, the wheels have been upgraded to a 90`s style Mercedes coupe with good tires, and of course the one of a kind look with the blue and the body kit. The mechanics who worked on it absolutely loved it! There is some slight scratches on the front and rear bumpers and the front lower valance. The only rust on the car is the passenger rear dog leg in the door jam, and there are some small bubbles on the very back of the trunk lid around the lettering. Other than that, the underside is super clean, and the body is pretty mint. The sun roof does work and does not leak. Overall, it is a gem of a classic. These cars without the AMG package go for $12k all day long with 94k miles. This is an absolute head turner and rides like a dream with the sprung seats. It has been well maintained and is ready to serve the next owner for many years to come. I have heard these are half a million mile engines, so this one is just broken in.
